Rayann is a pioneer graduate of LASALLE’s BA Hons Acting Program, she graduated with the inaugural batch in 2008. A Canadian by birth, Australian at heart Rayann has grown to love Singapore and is now proud to be a PR in her adopted home.
Rayann views herself as much as a director as an actor. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to write and direct a piece called The Girl in the Red Hood for the ACE Festival 2010. The piece is as exploration of the Little Red Riding Hood tale, considering alternative versions and stronger role models for young girls. She also worked as assistant to Broadway director Philip Wm Mckinley on Resorts World Sentosa’s new circus theatre piece Voyage de la Vie. In 2008 she directed Somewhere Between the Sky and the Sea for Short and Sweet, which won the overall People’s Choice Award.
Rayann hopes the future will continue to be filled with opportunities to work with and learn from the theatre practitioners she respects and admires and she would eventually like to pursue an MA in Direction hopefully the program headed by Anne Bogart at Columbia in the USA.
Vanessa Ann Vanderstraaten
Born and bred in Singapore, Vanessa graduated in 2011 from Nanyang Technological University where she majored in English Literature and minored in Drama and Performance. After being involved in junior college and university plays, she joined Singapore Repertory Theatre’s Young Company in 2010, where she trained under Daniel Jenkins. Vanessa has also worked on numerous TVCs, print ads and short films. She has also been modeling since she took part in The New Paper New Face 2009 competition, where she was a Top 20 finalist. She is currently freelancing with Fly Entertainment and Mint Models, gives English tuition and occasionally teaches drama in secondary schools. Recently, she has also taken up hosting classes at Zoom Academy, and singing classes at Thunder Rock School. A versatile, professional and enthusiastic performer, Vanessa is looking forward to more opportunities and hopes to make a name for herself in Singapore’s theatre scene.
…discovered his interest in acting at the age of 21. He has been attending drama classes for the past 15 years, and has also participated in several plays that are mostly in French. One of his recent work is a theatre production in both English and French titled Venise Sous La Neige (Venice under the snow), in October 2012. It was a fusion between a French traditional comedy and an American sit-com that was shown at Alliance Francaise.
On Screen, Stephane was featured in the Love & Co. Commercial in July 2012.
Previous theatre credits include The Full Monty (Malcolm), Fiddler on the Roof (Fyedka), The Secret Garden (Dickon), Big River (Young Fool), Little Shop of Horrors (Mr Mushnik), Annie (Oliver Warbucks), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Joseph), The Pirates of Penzance(the Sergeant), Oliver! (Mr Sowerberry), Guys and Dolls, Jesus Christ Superstar, Copacabana, Sweeney Todd and Anything Goes. At 20, Tim made his professional opera debut in the NBR New Zealand Opera production of Verdi’s La Traviata and finished the year off with NZ Opera’s Christmas concert, Not A Silent Night. Other operatic appearances include The Consul, The Beggar’s Opera and Monostatos in The Magic Flute.
For LASALLE, Tim has appeared in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (Various Characters),Urinetown (Old Man Strong), Into the Woods (Granny), The Odd Couple (Manolo), Lucky Stiff(Vinnie), Nine (Guido Contini), Sweet Charity (Oscar Lindquist), Spelling Bee (Mitch Mahoney) andAin’t Misbehavin’.
In 2008 he was understudy for Sing Theatre’s Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris and in 2009 performed in Singapore Repertory Theatre’s The Boy Who Cried Wolf. 2010 marked his debut with I Theatre, performing in Momotaro.
In 2011, Tim worked in stage management for the Singapore production of The Lion King as an assistant to the worldwide associate director and creative team. Soon after this, he directed and choreographed the Singapore premiere production of Hey Florence! the musical for SingHealth, which culminated in a command performance for President S.R. Nathan. Tim was was recently seen in Dream Academy’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s Company as Paul and in ArsMedia’sAnother Murder on the Orient Express, and directed French Stage’s Venice Under The Snow.
He is excited about theatre development in Singapore in his capacity as producer with Skinned Knee Productions, and is thrilled to be continuing the growth and appreciation of musical theatre in Singapore with the establishment of Singapore’s first open mic musical theatre evening, “Musical Theatre Mondays.” Tim was recently engaged as associate producer of City Gym the Musical, and later in 2013 will produce and perform in the Singapore premiere production of Richard Greenberg’s Tony Award-winning play, Take Me Out.
